A friend gave me the tug a jug toy which is great if your Lab doesn't shred rope (mine does) but having got rid of the shredded rope she still carries it around. It now doesn't take her long to get the kibble out. I have just bought the chucka ball which seems nice and floaty and bounces well and hasn't been shredded yet despite lots of chewing. Favourites are still cardboard and plastic bottles. And she likes this red dummy like toy (looks like what is used for gundog training) which is still intact after a good 6 months. It's her only squeak toy, I didn't realise it had a squeak. I bought a boomer ball and she won't go near it, just not interested at all. I might pop it up to Battersea dogs' home at Windsor. Tennis balls are favourite but I am aware of the problems they can cause teeth, luckily she rarely chews them.
Sams all time favourite is his dummy which he has had since he was about a year old but its not treated as a toy really , serious stuff this dummy is The toy he adores is Teddy Legless , names appropriately
In terms of his most favourite things, it's dummies. Followed very closely by balls. Either of those on a string (or toggle) even better. After that, it's anything nicked from a stranger - no sunhat on a beach, or jacket on a green, is safe from him. A ball on a string nicked from a total stranger on the beach would be a thousand Christmas dinners all at once. In terms of actual toys, he doesn't have a very special toy. Anything attached to a whipit stick comes out trumps, and still on his special list even if it only used to be attached to a whipit stick. A chewed up mongoose is tops right now, but he's fickle and something like a stolen oven glove would win hands down. For general carrying around, a large alien sea creature is usually his go to toy but just about anything will do. The bigger the better though.
Molly's favourites have always been 'found' objects. For a long time a yard long length of sturdy hosepipe was her most treasured possession; now it's her collection of pebble-filled plastic bottles.
Harleys favourite toy is tennis balls She also has a hippo and giraffe which seem to be favourite to run around with, throw up in the air, but also to cuddle up to. It's the first soft toys she hasn't destroyed in over a year
Lola's favourite is her teddy, a pets at home soft puppy toy bought for her before she came home by my boyfriend - I have to admit being rather disparaging as to how a soft fabric toy with arms and legs and ears would stand up to a lab puppy, but it is impressively still going, there was one small head injury, now sewn up, and as of today his squeaker no longer works, but that's about all the damage he's sustained. She loves to run around with him and throw him around but also cuddle up and rest her head on him. Her other favourite is her nylabone - not only is it great to chew and carry round, but you can also drop it repeatedly on the kitchen floor and it makes LOADS of REALLY ANNOYING NOISE
Myles loves his Jolly Ball He also loves it when I create new toys out of his normal ones. Like shove a chew or bully stick into a Kong. Pull his rope toy through a stuffed donut. All the sudden it's "new".
I can tell what Maisie likes best by what gets a "victory lap" out of her in the park… on the first throw, does she bring it back to me, or does she trumpet around wildly bucking like a bronco showing off her toy? I'm not sure if it's the novelty of it but today she retrieved a frisbee type toy (not the type you leap up and catch, I've been mostly letting it land and roll along so she gets to chase it but no leaping) and did 2 victory laps, and wouldn't stop retrieving until she was tired! She gives up on a ball after maybe 5-10 throws. She also may have led a German Shepherd puppy around the beach in circles in a game of "chase" that was really more "na na na look what I have na na na". She also is very fond of toys that she only gets to use in games of tug with me - she has a racoon skinneez, a rope toy, and a snake rope-type toy. Mostly good prizes since she doesn't get them that frequently. She also favours this irritating squeaky ball - it's LOUD and if you throw it in the house it'll leave streaks of colour on the walls. I rent so, no thanks! I may have put this in her "toy exchange" bag where I put toys for awhile to make them newer when they come back out… Oh and her IQ ball. Treat dispenser that makes shockingly loud noises.
Lilly is not particularly toy orientated. She does quite like the hide-a-squirrel toy that probably half the dog-owning world got from Amazon deals at Christmas. And a couple of ball thingys that make noises when you drop them
I was wondering if any of you had the hide-a-squirrel toy. I think that's one of the next toys I'll get Sophia. Thanks for the reassurance.
