My Chocolate pup, Marley, just turned 7 months and I've yet to see notice any shedding. He has an unusual coat, very wavy, starting from his neck, down his back to the tip of his tail. You can see it here.[IMG]
Previous to Marley, I had a pair of Labs, a yellow and a black. and we lived in a sea of hair. Sometimes it was worse, but it never stopped. So is Marley just too young yet, or is it a Chocolate thing or is his wavy coat imparting some magical, shed free properties? Mind you, I'm not in any way complaining, just curious:)

Hey Jimmy. The wave is very common in Labradors. My chocolate puppy is nearly 8 months and only really started shedding in earnest in the last week or so. It will come. Believe me, it will come!

My black 9 month old pup was shedding in earnest in May and stopped about 10 days ago.

We didn't get much shedding until she lost her puppy coat...at around 9-10 months. We are currently dealing with her first major adult shed...and whoa, the difference is noticeable!

I'd say it's likely he will keep it. Many adults have it :)

Just think of it as exotic tumble weed. Every lab I've ever had has had a different coat and shed differently. The have now are not too bad. Rory my choco had a wavy pup coat but shed it and now has a very fine straight coat and Moo like a small woolly mammoth. I only have to Hoover every other day now but when I had my other lab Doug it was a very hairy house he was one of those really hairy bear labs.I hope when the mould comes it's not too bad. :D

With apologies to Midsomer Murders, we live in Dog Hair Drift. Tht fact that Cooper doesn't like being brushed, makes it even worse.

It's a permanent state of being in our house. I thought the lab was bad until I got a Clumber Spaniel o_O

Once Bailey lost his puppy coat he started shedding - currently STILL shedding.....he is brushed daily and I sweep the floors daily too - carpets upstairs are hovered daily too. He is a 16 month fox red lab and he likes to leave his calling card everywhere!!

Mollie, eight months old, has just started shedding. Tatze doesn't shed much at all, she has a proper double coat but likes to keep it to herself. Zaba sheds shed loads! He's with us for two weeks and the vacuum cleaner is turning to its Union to complain of overwork.

Bruce, Golden Retriever, shed a lot - but not in the house particularly, just during grooming. I kept all his groomings and put them out for the birds. All the birds round here now have gorgeous, soft, comfy nests :D

The birds don't take black fur for nesting, I've no idea why.
