    Hi all!

I know labradors are prone to obesity and I have read it is best to switch them to an adult food before 12 months because it is lower in fat and will slow down their growth, is this true? If so at what age would I transition him to adult food?

    Thanks!!

I think it depends on the food brand.
What does it say on your packet?
    Or alternatively on their website?

We switched around 12 months with both our labrador puppies. Just make sure it is a good quality kibble that you switch across to. Although adolescent labradors don't need as much as young puppies, they are still growing, laying down muscle, and filling out. I think fat and protein are important at this stage, so I would be wary of reducing fat by too much. Make sure though you are providing a balanced diet in line with a good body shape, ie they have a good covering over their body (not a duvet!) and a nice tuck up behind their ribs :)
