    Hi

Lola has just started going out for a couple of small walks per day, we took her to the park yesterday and let her off her lead which she loved!!

I just wondered whether we should start trying to get her into a routine regarding walks?

1 in the morning and 1 in the evening ?

    Thanks
    Billy

Fabulous work letting her off her lead from the outset - it's a really good time to be working on establishing a good recall.

Whether or not you want a routine is up to you and your lifestyle. We tend to do two walks a day, but with other stuff mixed in - they go outside with me whenever I go, if possible. I also do bits and pieces of training throughout the day, especially with my puppy. After walks, they also tend to have a big hoon around the garden, with plenty of zoomies.

Some people walk their dog three or more times a day. For a little puppy, you don't need to do a lot, but plenty of short training sessions will help occupy her brain and wear her out.

Yes different things suit different people. My last dog had three walks a day his whole life -but I felt he needed it as I was working full-time (so I took him out very early morning and evening, and someone else did the afternoon). Molly started out on three ( 20 -30 minutes each, and as a young pup these were outings to the rec or beach for play and meandering) but around 18 months of age we cut it to 2 longer walks because she always has someone at home with her now.
