Thanks for the replies. I'm really leaning towards taking the whistle away and then backing up. It was just hoping that maybe the whistle pitch might be a solution. I'm sure the OH will understand ;).

I would take his away AND get a new pitch.
I remember when I had "spoiled" my recall with my whistle, Pippa suggested I try a different pitch one.

Keep your whistle under lock and key. And your clicker. And dummies..whipit sticks...placeboards...get it baskets...the lot. I have just had a padlock put on my cupboard and keep the key on me AT ALL TIMES.

    OHs CANNOT BE TRUSTED!

I let him have one, small, rubber ball though...

    ;D ;D ;D

My hubby is a stellar example of all that is good in life but I have NOT under any circumstances allowed him to TOUCH my whistle. :) Simba had zero recall when he first arrived with us, with some work and patience he is getting pretty reliable at recall with the whistle but needs some proofing, yet. If my OH took the whistle and used it improperly.....let's just say it wouldn't be pretty....

Funnily enough he has never tried to touch it. Imagine that. ;) ;D
