Re: Where does all the food go? Sorry, all....it was the Sandwich Lament that tuned them all in.... ;D
Re: Where does all the food go? Charlie has a complaint about the bread he stole from Julie's kitchen work top. It would seem she forgot to provide any sort of filling before leaving it there. Less of a Sandwich Lament, more of a Dry Crust Chorus... Poor hard-done-by dog. Clare
Re: Where does all the food go? I bought a pill cutter from the chemist to cut the kibble in half. It works ! I now have double the amount of training treats. ;D Jen

Clare [/quote] A couple of weeks ago, he had my Dad's home made roast chicken, mayo and salad sandwich lunch from the same counter - so no doubt he feels hard done by. I am pretty organised with this, my counters are usually totally clear. I just forgot today...and the bread was in his tummy before you could say counter surfing labrador.

That's dedication.
Re: Where does all the food go? No I don't cut the whole ration in half that would take ages. : I save about 50 g of ration a day per dog for training purposes since doing clicker training so I wasn't giving them too much extra in treats. 50g wasn't enough but I didn't want to take anymore from their meals so I would break it with my fingers. Not easy. Then saw a pill cutter and had light bulb moment.

I've found some heart-shaped moist dog treats, which I break into 3 pieces. It does take me a while though to work through the pack though, decreasing their treat size to my idea of treat size... ??? Clare
Re: Where does all the food go? Exactly Clare. Also with clicker training you end up getting through a lot of treats and they need to be small so they get eaten quick. Although it doesn't seem to matter what size the treat with my two it's eaten quick. :
Re: Where does all the food go? Maybe we just need liver flavour hundreds and thousands???! ;D ;D Clare
Re: Where does all the food go? I do think the pill cutter is a great idea - I am sorry if it seemed that I was poking fun at you. Was just seeing the funny side of a clever solution You are totally right that training treats only need to be tiny. Take something 1cm cubed in size and cut it in 4 and that is big enough. If you want to give a jackpot for a really great response, use a few in quick succession.
Re: Where does all the food go? Don't worry Rachael I know you were only joking. ;D To be honest I've probably done dafter things in the interests of my dogs Jen
Re: Where does all the food go? Great That'd make a good thread - daftest thing you've ever done for your dog ;D
