Is it possible to identify folks with a little flag emblem or even with their country? I know this is mostly a U.K. forum but I do see there are several ex-pats living in other countries. I'm in Canada and I see a couple of posters I recognize from other boards who are not in the U.K. either. Even if the main event is Labrador Retrievers sometimes there is a difference in the country a person lives in. This came up in a recent thread about off leash. I've also seen it impact discussions on food and medicine. I think it would help not just the person responding to a query but also the OP. A new member might not know of the differences by country and go off wildly confused or on a wild goose chase following suggestions that would be sensible for a different country. And of course the person responding has no way to tell with a new member either, where they live. Sometimes language is a clue, but not always.
I think it would be a nice little feature to have, but would require some development work to do it, since it's not a standard feature that comes with this forum software. For now, people that wanted to could add it to their signatures.
We have a map somewhere....perhaps we could give it a bump up and encourage people to fill it in. Now, where did we leave it?
Yes, but in two recent threads the OP did not put their location in their details and it might have helped. Oh well. It's nice on Champdogs where they use little flags. I don't know all the flags and it's educational to look them up. I do understand there is some programming involved though, so admins, please view as a suggestion, a wish, a future hoped for.
If members don't fill in location now are they going to click to select a flag? Programming also costs money and testing .......
This is a recurring theme and I never tire of it as we have a fluctuating membership. I am happy to say I live in the Thames Valley about 10 miles from Oxford. I live right in the middle,of the area where they film "Midsommer Murders". Quite entertaining really, suddenly shops change what they sell, pubs change their names and you find that your Town Hall has tuned into Causton theatre. I am happy to report that despite marching about 1500 miles per with various dogs I have yet to encounter a corpse
It's only a matter of time, Tina. I mean, they're everywhere round there! Most dangerous place in the UK to live, quite clearly.
