Re: Which puppy for us?! Eek, we met the litter today and paid our deposit! They were absolutely adorable, totally happy with the breeder and we all fell in love with mum too. The children know now and are so excited We're collecting her on 5th March. Now to think of names - on the shortlist at the moment are Hazel, Ginny and Iris. Thoughts and ideas please? It's so lovely looking forward to bringing puppy home with the children, now that they know!
Re: Which puppy for us?! That is VERY exciting, congratulations ;D March will seem like a long way away and then you'll have a little bundle of trouble to enjoy!
Re: Which puppy for us?! Very, VERY exciting!! I want to see pictures!!! I can't help with names; they're such a personal thing. We had a shortlist for both our pups, but ended up with names that hadn't even been mentioned before!
Re: Which puppy for us?! We didn't take photos today, I didn't like to ask, which seems really silly after the event! I don't know if we'll get back to meet our puppy once we know which is ours in a couple of weeks because it's quite far away but I'm hoping there will be lots of photos regardless I think I need to see her before we decide her name though! My eldest son has just come downstairs (hours after he was put to bed) to tell us he was dreaming about the 5th March, it's going to be a long 25 days ;-)
Re: Which puppy for us?! Glad to hear you have found your pup! What colour is she? The next month will go fast...at least you have plenty of planning time!
Re: Which puppy for us?! Lovely news! I tried to think of names connected with where my pup came from (lake district), which goes back to Scandinavian roots but in the end chose a North American Native name that I had chosen for a Chesapeake pup (which I didn't get). I didn't take photos as I think some of my breeder's had been ripped off their website and used by someone else. Happy days! Surely there must be more you need to buy? ;D ;D ;D Extra vetbed? Kongs? Poo bags? Heavy ceramic water bowl? Some Simple de-odouring sray? Enjoy the preparations and get some sleep :
Re: Which puppy for us?! Oh yes Jane, there is shopping to be done, I must get on to that! I have four children and I'm also a childminder so I generally run on caffeine anyway
Re: Which puppy for us?! I think Hazel is the top name at the moment - for the colour obviously but also because we have a hazel tree in the garden as well as a dog loving Great Aunty Hazel who wouldn't be at all put out to have a dog named after her! I'm just not sure it's a doggy name?! On the other hand one of my son's chose Ginny (they are really in to Harry Potter at the moment so they were trying to think of names from the books) and I like the idea of going with his suggestion in particular because only a few months ago he was petrified of dogs. We started spending time with friends and family with dogs and the turnaround has been amazing! He loves spending time with them now and is so excited to be getting our own. He told me he felt better because he understood now that dogs weren't all about to attack and kill him - I guess he'd seen some of the extremely tragic but thankfully rare news stories of this type and they had stayed with him poor boy. No wonder he was practically jumping in to my arms every time we passed a dog (he's 7!).
Re: Which puppy for us?! I like Hazel! My pup is chocolate and I did all the chocolate related names I could think of but they didn't suit. Wait until you see her next time to se if she is a Hazel. I like names that don't sound doggy. Had I got a boy I was considering Ted. I had a cat called Hayley, another one called Harvey (as well as a horse called Harvey), a bird called Sophie and so on! So, If you like Hazel then go for it; sounds classy actually, as well as friendly!
Re: Which puppy for us?! Of course, I forgot about Watership Down! I Googled Hazel from Watership Down and it says he was logical, patient and brave ... let's hope for some of that!
Re: Which puppy for us?! What a beautiful baby!!! So exciting. I vote for calling her "Hazelnut"... So you can call her miss nutty when she becomes a crocopup!
