THAT PUPPY THERE! THAT ONE THAT ONE THAT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D [/quote] ^^^ This. She is gorgeous To answer your questions, I personally wouldn't wake her to wee, if you know that you'll wake if she whines to go out. She may be a bit whiney anyway because she's in a new environment and will be a bit overwhelmed, scared and lonely if she wakes, but make sure even now, you instil good habits by not playing with her in the night - if she whines, get up, take her outside and let her go to the loo and then put her back in her crate, say "goodnight" and leave. It's heartbreaking if they cry for their mums, but you don't want to have her learn that whining means cuddles and playtime, and the loneliness doesn't last long, once she's settled into your family life. I think you've probably tired her out well enough for today anyway! Again, with toilet training, it's very, very, VERY early days, so I would keep taking her out regularly and then see how it goes. Some puppies are better than others at holding themselves, but better to take her out regularly and it not happen than to miss it and have her weeing indoors. Good luck and enjoy the first few days
Re: Which puppy for us?! Thank you all! My son just said to me that he thinks they gave us the best puppy - and we were worried because we were last in line and couldn't choose! The children are very keen to call her Tess so I think that may be the final decision. I've been out to parents' evening and while I was gone she went outside for a poo and put herself to sleep in her crate! She is obviously very happy in there which is wonderful. I'll take your advice snowbunny. I will hear her if she wakes because the utility room is right below us. The breeder said the puppies that left yesterday both slept through the night. No different to how you deal for a baby when they wake for a feed in the night - night time is not interesting ;-) We are so pleased with her, she is playing but not completely crazy (I know that will not always be the case!). I hope she's not lulling us in to a false sense of security ;-)

Re: Which puppy for us?! She was great! We couldn't get her to wee before bed so I set my alarm but she woke about 2am, outside for a wee and straight back to bed. At 6am when I get up she was starting to whine but I didn't rush to her and the poor thing was just weeing in her crate when I got there. Not long after she did a wee outside so I put her in her crate and she was very noisy. I ignored her safe that she didn't need a wee - wrong! So this morning I've learnt that if she's whining not to wait it out but to wait for a brief silence and take her out.She has really only been noisy when she's needed the toilet!
