Is it normal for a new born puppy to have some white patches on its otherwise predominantly brown nose and will they eventually disappear?

    Thanks

Hi Wayne and welcome to the forum.

Some Labradors do have white spots and blotches, so it's not unusual. It's unlikely they'll disappear.

Hello there, and a very warm welcome.

When you say white patches, do you mean a bit of white fur, or do you mean the skin on the end of the nose?

    White is on the skin.

Is the puppy still a newborn? What does the breeder say? Can you show us a photo?

When you say white do you mean lacking any pigment at all? I know my black girl got an injury on her nose (snapping turtle, oh there's one for the other thread) and lost a piece of nose. She always had a lighter grey spot there after. Deep gouges to skin can have hair come back in white. So I wonder, could there have been an injury? In my experience injuries that came in white, skin or hair, stayed white. But on Jet's nose it was apparent skin/flesh was missing, she had a sort of little divot there.

Not due to an accident. Here is a picture.

It looks as if it's just an area lacking in pigmentation on the skin and is not that unusual in itself. If it lacks pigmentation it will.not eventually disappear but it has no effect upon the health of the puppy.

Have you seen the puppy in person or are you just going by that pic? In the pic it just looks to me like light reflecting off his nose.

The photo does not show up well on my monitor but the only thing that would affect is a conformation show career and possible breeding intentions.

There are some skin/health issues with white spots on the nose so perhaps a visit to the Vet would reassure you, or the breeder should be Vetting. Some can be serious, some only cosmetic.

    Hello and welcome.
I agree with Rachael, in this picture, it just looks like shine to me.
