She LOVED it! We just went to a little walking area close to where we live. It's not the most scenic, but Willow was absolutely overwhelmed! We started her on the lead (there's about 200m of road to get to this walk and there were some cars) but she hated it, so we ended up carrying her. Once we got to the walk, we let her off. I can see why it's encouraged, she was a star! She recalled really well between the two of us, which I was made up with, what with all the distractions. Of course, I had some super tasty treats in my bag, and a Labrador's belly rules Excuse my indulgence posting all these pictures. They're not the best, but she didn't stop moving. I love the legs in this one! That's one excited puppy... I'm coming, Daddy! I can't wait to go on more walks and get more pictures
Re: Willow's first walk! So lovely to see her enjoying herself , I`m so pleased that you let her off lead , its the very best time to learn recall , and have fun in the process
Re: Willow's first walk! I had always intended to have her off the lead, but with bin lorries on the road, it wasn't safe for her to be running around on that section (and not a chance in hell of a "heel" - no point even trying!). She has a really solid recall at home but I wasn't sure whether I should try it on her first walk. But, I bit the bullet and I'm glad I did! We did it several times and she was amazing each time. I'll definitely continue working on it each time we go out. I guess I should treat her if she comes up to me of her own volition, too, without me blowing the whistle? I did the few times today. That can't be anything but a good idea, can it?
Re: Willow's first walk! Looks like you all had fun I would reward her if she comes to you without you calling, as this will help tell her that she needs to 'check in' with you every now and then I love the photos
Re: Willow's first walk! Lovely photos, good job!! She was clearly having a ball. Your face is full of delight, too!!
Re: Willow's first walk! It's such a heart in mouth moment when you first let them loose but after a couple of minutes you wonder what you were ever worried about! Glad you had a great time
Re: Willow's first walk! Such fun! So glad she had a great first walk! I reward voluntary attention and choosing to stay close by, I like Charlie to stay within about 15m, so I make sure good things happen when he does.
Re: Willow's first walk! Wonderful photos, and i am chuffed to bits to see Willow out in the real world where the real adventures begin. You say not the most scenic......i would gladly take this walk daily, and i am pretty certain Bud would do somersaults for such a fantastic location. Willow, well done from us over here (Bud is barking his praise.)
Re: Willow's first walk! Looks like a fabulous spot for a walk to me!! Well done, Willow, no stopping her now!!
