So,Bailey is our 51/2 month old Lab. We have been working through Total Recall and doing really well at home. He recalls from our back garden, all rooms in the house and our long front driveway. I bought a 9 metre longline and today headed out to a local park. It's wet and cool here so I hoped we could work by ourselves. However, almost as soon as I attached the line, a dog and his owner strolled into the park.
Bailey was off like a shot so I crossed my fingers and blew 2 pips on my whistle and he stopped, turned and ran back to me ears flying in the wind!!:celebrate: He loves other dogs, so I've never been so proud of this gorgeous dog! He then recalled beautifully from yet another dog and a flock of birds. It felt like I'd issued invitations to watch him!
I know that we'll have sessions where he won't do this well but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. He didn't miss one recall today over the 40 minutes at the park. He's now snoring his head off and dreaming of one day catching those birds:nod:

Thankyou both! I admit to getting quite emotional when he comes running to me. It's a wonderful feeling!

    Well done on this.
Can I just as, had you worked through all the chapters before doing this, or are you still working through them? Thanks

Hi Sven, I'm still working through them. Bailey and I practice and practice each skill as I read the book. Each chapter has an aim and that's what we work towards so that Bailey has a great background before we move on to the next skill.

Hi Bev, Thanks similar to what we are, Vanilla is same age.
Just was not sure, as I only call if she is looking at me. Have not tried if she is not looking...soon though I hope.

I only recalled when he wasn't looking today because he recalls every time at home when he is not looking at me . I wouldn't have tried in the park if I didn't have that behaviour at home.

OK thanks good to know. She does not look anymore either at home, so will try out and about when I think she will come. (Before she gets fixated on someone ).
